Emerging from three of the country’s finest music schools, Free Planet Radio consists of two-time Grammy winner Eliot Wadopian leaping effortlessly between rhythm and melody on electric and string basses; River Guerguerian on an extensive array of global percussion instruments including Middle Eastern frame drums and doumbek, the Indian kanjira, African djembe, and Western drum set; and Chris Rosser exploring melody on the 17-stringed Indian dotar, Turkish cumbus oud, guitar, piano and melodica.

In this workshop for songwriters, composers and instrumentalists, students will learn the nuances of combining diverse cultural and musical styles to create unique fusions and musical inspirations. The instructors will share concepts about global rhythms and scales and answer questions that students may have on a variety of topics related to world music. Chuck Brodsky is a storyteller, songwriter, troubadour, and a modern day bard. With only his acoustic guitar and his voice he’ll draw you in with genuine, down-to-earth warmth and his quirky, finely crafted songs. Using wit and irony, set to haunting melodies, he tells the stories of oddball and underdog characters through his syncopated guitar strumming or sweet finger-picking. His songs celebrate the goodness in people—the eccentric, holy, profound, courageous, inspiring, and the beautiful. They poke fun at what needs to be poked, and sometimes they challenge. That said, I had been going through some major life changes myself and had my own stuff to mine. In the process of writing songs I discovered, for the umpteenth time, that life is about facing change and embracing it.” With that as a backdrop, Wyatt’s 2014 release, Goodbye-Hello was launched.
