Annual Pre-Turkey Day Benefit Jam Hosted by Jon Shain

Each year Jon Shain and Six String Presents get together to raise money for local charities around the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. This year’s show will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 starting at 8pm at the beautiful Cary Theater in downtown Cary. ALL proceeds from the show will go to The Interfaith Council for Social Services and the Relief for Recreation Fund. All the artists, the promoter and the theater staff and facility are donating their time and money towards the show. This year’s lineup will feature several of the areas popular and talented musicians.

Jonathan Byrd and The Pickup Cowboy with Corin Raymond

Jonathan Byrd is an American singer-songwriter based in Carrboro, North Carolina. He is best known for his narrative tales of love, life, and death in America. In 2003, he was among the winners of the New Folk competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival. He set a record for CD sales at the festival that year, making more sales than the main stage acts. His song, "The Ballad of Larry" has been listed a "Top Rated Song" by Americana-UK. He primarily performs solo and accompanies himself in a variety of traditional acoustic guitar styles. His recordings have featured a variety of instrumental ensembles and typically include one or more instrumental tracks that feature Byrd’s skillful flatpicking technique.

Toronto songwriter Corin Raymond is a troubadour whose robust veracity appeals to older folks and children alike. Raymond’s songs are covered by Dustin Bentall, The Good Lovelies, The Strumbellas, The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, and a far flung community of roots musicians and enthusiasts.

He is the recipient of the 2014 Heritage Musician award from Pilgrim Center for the Arts in Kansas City, MO. He was also named the 2015 Spirit of Folk award winner by Folk Alliance International. He has performed on Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage and the Kerrville Folk Festival where he was nominated for their Hall of Fame.
